Description
I just finished the short story The Princess and the Queen, in the anthology Dangerous Women. George R. R. Martin knows how to write a dragon battle let me tell you. Dragon battles. For all those people who are like "when are the draaaaagons coming" in A Song of Ice and Fire, this story will definitely quench your dragon thirst. Alls I'm gonna say is, I did not think dragons would be ripping each other's heads off so much. This is Prince Daemon Targaryen facing off against his nemesis, Aemond One-Eye, the Kinslayer. Prince Daemon rides Caraxes, the Blood Wyrm. A savage veteran. Aemond rides Vhagar, of Balerion, Vhagar, and Meraxes fame. Yeah. Name dropping.
I'm going to drag on a bit about this story. See, the Targaryens have never been a favorite of mine. Honestly, I always thought they were a little too cool. Silver hair. Purple eyes. Never get sick, never get burnt, marry your siblings. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal. So when word was that GRRM was writing like an all Targaryen love-fest I was kinda like "eeeeeh I'll love it but where dem Greyjoys be at? Where dem Reeds at? Frog battle!" but seriously.............dragons are so cool. I'm kind of really excited for some dragon riding now.

Vhagar is too small here, he is the biggest Dragon of the Dance.
